Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) will need to implement ambitious decarbonization measures to meet approaching federal and provincial net zero targets. Clean fuel blending is a practical near-term strategy, enabling lower lifecycle emissions by integrating cleaner fuels into existing systems without major infrastructure modifications. Fuel blending offers a gradual and scalable pathway to reduce emissions across NL’s hard-to-abate sectors which are reliant on conventional fuels and difficult to electrify using existing low-carbon technologies.
