Ongoing and Previous Initiatives:

• Clean Energy Initiative

  The Clean Energy Initiative is a collaborative project led by econext – in partnership with College of the North Atlantic, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and TradesNL – to prepare Newfoundland and Labrador’s workforce to support and succeed within the province’s emerging clean energy industry.

• Workforce Development in Newfoundland and Labrador’s Blue/Green Economy

  This 2023-24 project, in partnership with the Marine Institute and the Town of Holyrood, was a pilot to explore workforce development within the context of smaller communities and with a focus the increasing importance of ‘green’ skills and training in traditional areas of strength (in this case: oceans).

• Defining ‘Green Jobs’ in Atlantic Canada

  This 2021-22 report helped to create a better understand of what a ‘green job’ means in context of Atlantic Canada’s economy – recognizing that the makeup of a region’s economy can determine what effects the energy transition and a greening economy will have on local jobs.
