The Newfoundland and Labrador Emissions Reduction Fund (NLERF) was created in 2024.

The NLERF is a registered Emission Reduction Funding Program under Canada’s Clean Fuels Regulations. Primary fuel suppliers may choose to contribute up to 10% of their annual carbon intensity reduction requirements to the NLERF to fund projects that support the deployment or commercialization of technologies or processes that will reduce carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions in Newfoundland and Labrador.
