St. John’s Port Authority

The St. John’s Port Authority, which manages and promotes the Port of St. John’s, is an autonomous federal Crown agency created in 1999 pursuant to the Canada Marine Act. The Authority is governed by a board of directors comprised of four representatives nominated in consultation with port users, as well as one representative appointed by each of the Government of Canada, the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the City of St. John’s. A President and Chief Executive Officer and a management group are responsible for port operations. The Authority is financially self-sufficient, operates with full commercial discipline, and reinvests all earnings generated from activities into port infrastructure.
