Workshop Overview

Date: Thursday, October 22, 2026
Time: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Location:Co. Innovation Centre, 710 Torbay Rd (Suite A), St. John’s, NL

Angler Solutions and Pedal & Shift will share insights from a recent paper, prepared for econext, that explores the potential and opportunities for fuel blending in Newfoundland and Labrador. The presentation will cover: the role of fuel blending in decarbonization; clean fuel standards at the federal, provincial, and international levels; types of fuel blends and how they’re produced; and NL-specific opportunities and insights. Included in the discussion will be: local feedstock availability; emerging clean fuel production capacity; and demand from hard-to-abate sectors such as marine transportation, heavy industry, and heavy-duty transport. Following the presentation, participants will engage in a guided discussion to identify priority areas and potential opportunities for collaborative, industry-driven research and development on fuel blending.

Workshop Objective

To spark and advance provincial dialogue on opportunities in Newfoundland and Labrador’s clean energy and decarbonization sectors, with a particular focus on fuel blending, including biofuels, renewable fuels, and other clean fuels, and recommendations for accelerating local adoption.

Ideal Workshop Participants

This workshop is designed for stakeholders from academia, industry, and policy makers within the province who are engaged in or interested in decarbonization, fuel blending, and clean fuel technologies, and who want to explore how these can be applied in Newfoundland and Labrador.
