Maritimes Energy Association

The Maritimes Energy Association is an independent, not-for-profit industry association representing businesses that provide goods and services to Eastern Canada’s energy industry. Since its inception in 1982 (as OTANS) the membership has grown from a dozen to more than 300 member businesses throughout Atlantic Canada.

Marine Institute

Marine Institute graduates have a technology diploma in Marine Environmental Technology. Graduates from this program have generalist training in the environmental field. Upon graduation, the students will be familiar with underlying scientific principles of environmental process and operations, as well as the policy and legal framework of environmental regulations.

LPHA Inc.

The Long Pond Harbour Authority Inc. (LPHA Inc.) was formed in 1999 to investigate the long-term potential for recreation and commercial development and activity for the Harbour in Conception Bay South. The Board became an incorporated entity in 1999 and as a non-profit organization, any excess revenues generated through the operation of the port and its various assets are invested directly back into maintenance and improvement of port facilities. Long Pond Harbour Authority Inc. is community based and controlled, governed by a seven-person Board of Directors.

LOOKNorth

LOOKNorth is a national Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) under the Government of Canada`s Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) program; it is hosted by C-CORE and is dedicated to remote sensing innovation. LOOKNorth networks Canadian remote sensing innovators and provides a bridge to commercial markets through a combination of remote sensing technology and demonstration expertise, project management support, continuous engagement with end users to understand market needs, and business development support.

LGL Limited

LGL Limited, a Canadian company, has been conducting environmental research and consulting since 1971. LGL offices are located in St. John’s, Newfoundland (since 1979), Ontario, British Columbia, Alaska, and Texas. Clients include energy and oil industries, all levels of government, engineering companies, First Nations, legal firms, NGO’s, and others.

LGL has successfully provided environmental services throughout Canada, the United States, South Pacific, Caribbean, Africa, Indian Ocean, Greenland, Russia, and Australia. Expert services include impact assessment; environmental effects monitoring; study design; habitat, fish, bird and wildlife surveys; telemetry tracking; GIS; bird and wildlife control; environmental damage assessment and restoration; environmental management and planning; stock assessment; marine mammal monitoring and mitigation programs; bio-acoustic research and monitoring; and expert testimony.

Leslie Grattan & Associates

Leslie Grattan and Associates offer access to a wide range of environmental consulting services through the company principal and associates. The company has a particular focus on the environmental planning, assessment, consultation and monitoring associated with major resource projects. The company is also active in emergency response planning, environmental stewardship and integrated coastal and ocean management.

Leslie Grattan has held senior leadership positions in environmental management in the private and public sectors and offers extensive experience on major projects in offshore oil and gas, hydro-electric development and waste management. Ms Grattan has also demonstrated success in building highly effective in-house and consultant teams. Her strong communication skills have been sought in consultations, negotiations and in collaboration with the resource sector, industry, regulators and the community.

Hibernia received the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Environmental Award in 1995 and received the Government of Newfoundland Safety Performance Award in early 1996 for 500,000 consecutive hours worked at the Topsides facilities without a lost-time accident.
