Public Works and Government Services Canada

PEGNL

The Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) is an organization whose mandate is regulating these professions in the public interest, as promulgated in the Engineers & Geoscientists Act 2008 of Newfoundland and Labrador. PEGNL has about 4,000 members and is accountable to the public through the provincial Department of Government Services and Lands.

Almost 200 members volunteer in support of PEGNL activities by working on committees and boards, and seven permanent staff members work for the organization.

EnergyNL

Energy NL was founded in 1977 to represent the supply and service sector of the energy industry. Today Energy NL represents over 460 member organizations worldwide which are involved in, or benefit from, the energy industry of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Our mandate is to facilitate member participation in the evolving energy industry by advocating for local sustainable development, seeking opportunities locally and globally, and creating connections that advance the industry.

NL Association of CBDCs

As CBDCs, we assist in the creation of small businesses and in the expansion and modernization of existing businesses by providing financial and technical services to entrepreneurs. Typically, our services are targeted to entrepreneurs who require customized financing not normally available from traditional sources.

Newfoundland Power

Newfoundland Power Inc. serves 243,000 customers in more than 600 communities across Newfoundland. These customers constitute 85 per cent of all electrical consumers in the province.

Newfoundland Power has implemented an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). The company operates in an environmentally responsible manner and is committed to promoting environmental awareness in Newfoundland communities. Newfoundland Power is determined to minimize the impact of its business on the environment, and strives to achieve continual improvements in environmental performance and protection and the conservation of natural resources.

Miawpukek First Nation

The Miawpukek First Nation is a First Nation reserve located on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland. The Lands and Environment Division falls under the Capital, Lands and Housing Department. The division is responsible for land use planning and management and developing and implementing policies, programs, and projects for environmental protection and enhancement.

McInnes Cooper

McInnes Cooper is an Atlantic Canadian law firm with offices in St. John’s, Newfoundland; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John, New Brunswick; and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We have more than 130 lawyers and a large complement of legal assistants and support staff. We have assisted a broad range of clients in the natural resources industries and have lawyers with specialized expertise in the various natural resource sectors. We advise on oil and gas exploration and development, both onshore and offshore; mineral exploration and development; forest management and the pulp and paper industry; and all aspects of the fisheries and marine resource management. We assist clients in developing environmental management systems and compliance strategies to meet due diligence requirements. We guide clients with new business and expansion proposals, and defend against prosecutions brought under provincial and federal environmental protection legislation.

Maritimes Energy Association

The Maritimes Energy Association is an independent, not-for-profit industry association representing businesses that provide goods and services to Eastern Canada’s energy industry. Since its inception in 1982 (as OTANS) the membership has grown from a dozen to more than 300 member businesses throughout Atlantic Canada.
