OCEAN LEADERS IMPACT PROGRAM – CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Ocean Leaders Impact Program Guidelines – Call for Proposals

Canada’s Ocean Supercluster (OSC) has launched a second Canada-wide Call for Proposals under its Ocean Leaders Impact Program (OLIP). The program focuses on developing new opportunities and building on the experienced talent pool in Canada’s ocean economy. The Call will address important challenges in the innovation ecosystem by investing in projects that forge new partnerships, build on existing talent resources, and foster creative solutions that support small and medium-sized ocean enterprises (SMEs) as they grow.

The Ocean Leaders Impact Program Call for Proposals is designed for projects with a term ending by March 31, 2023. The OLIP Call is specifically targeting strategic opportunities that will attract experienced ocean talent and invest in current ocean leaders, partnering with projects that will:

  • Expand the highly skilled ocean talent pool through domestic recruitment efforts targeted outside the ocean economy;
  • Support ocean SMEs ability to secure senior leaders and specialized talents from international markets;
  • Focus on the near-term career advancement of employees with senior leadership potential with Canadian Ocean SMEs; and
  • Advance leadership opportunities for diverse and underrepresented groups.
  • The application process is now open, beginning with the Expression Interest (EOI) process. For consideration, organizations must submit a completed EOI by February 21, 2022, at 4 p.m. Atlantic time.

The Ocean Supercluster will host a virtual information session on the Ocean Leaders Impact Program Call for Proposals on January 27, 2022, at 2 p.m. Atlantic time. To register, email OLIP@oceansupercluster.ca.

Job Offer – Student Position Ocean Asset Map (OAM) Client Outreach Coordinator

Job Offer – Student Position
Ocean Asset Map (OAM) Client Outreach Coordinator
OceansAdvance Inc. is looking to hire a team of Client Outreach Coordinators to support the Ocean Asset Map 2.0 project.
Positions to fill: 8
Work location: Remote

Background

Canada’s ocean sector has incredible capacity and strengths located from coast-to coast-to-coast. Recognizing the nation’s vast array of ocean-based industries, and their perceived boundless potential for collaboration and partnership, an Ocean Asset Map (OAM) was designed, constructed, and launched in 2019. The purpose of the OAM was to generate enhanced awareness of Canada’s increasingly innovative, dynamic, and inclusive ocean ecosystem, and to facilitate collaboration and partnerships across ocean industry verticals. Through this effort, the OAM aimed to further develop and expand Canadian-based ocean enterprises, both nationally and internationally.A unique digital tool, the Ocean Asset Map 1.0, was sponsored by OceansAdvance (OA), the Ocean Technology Alliance Canada (OTAC) and the Atlantic Canadian Opportunities Agency (ACOA); with development input provided by Canada’s Ocean Supercluster. The tool was delivered by the collective’s team leads in collaboration with Triware, a St. John’s based technology service provider.

By combining collected data, and integrating a unique Ecosystem Search function, the team developed an online map that visually showcases ocean assets across the country and provides high-level details on each ocean entity. In so doing, the tool showcases the capabilities and competitive strengths of Canada’s ocean sector and helps facilitate more local, national, and international collaboration and partnership. Currently, the interactive pan-Canadian directory has 1,977 listings and several hundred visitors per week.

The first iteration of the map has done a solid job capturing such information, but there is an opportunity to go deeper and improve what is currently available. The challenge being addressed remains the same: What Ocean Assets exist in Canada and where do we find them?

OceansAdvance, on behalf of the OTAC Team, seeks to build upon the objectives and the momentum of the initial project. To do so, we are seeking dynamic and driven individuals to join the team dedicated to the Ocean Asset Map 2.0 project.

Green and Inclusive Community Buildings

The Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program aims to build more community buildings and improve existing ones – in particular in areas with populations experiencing higher needs – while also making the buildings more energy efficient, lower carbon, more resilient, and higher performing.

This five-year $1.5 billion program will support green and accessible retrofits, repairs or upgrades of existing public community buildings and the construction of new publicly-accessible community buildings that serve high-needs, underserved communities across Canada.

Applicants with small and medium retrofit projects to existing community buildings ranging in total eligible cost from $100,000 to $3 million will be accepted on a continuous basis and funded on a rolling intake basis.
