Evaluating the technical feasibility of wind energy to electrify oil and gas production facilities offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

From a resource perspective, Newfoundland and Labrador appears to be an ideal candidate to lead Canada into the offshore wind industry. However, successful development of offshore wind is more complex than simply having the wind resources and supply chain capabilities, and this report explores the associated barriers.
The objective of this study was to qualitatively assess Newfoundland and Labrador’s capabilities to help inform NEIA’s future business development activities. Specifically, this report identifies the products and services typically required for offshore wind energy development, and indicates which products and services are available in Newfoundland and Labrador.
